Humour Worx : Provocative Change : Workshop : Newcastle 28-30 July

Humour Worx and it all begins in the ‘Bubble of Possibility‘. Provocative Change is all about the structured and unstructured ( spontaneity ) use of irrelevance. Irrelevance has a structure so this should at least be confusing. Here we go!

Get an amazing solution oriented set of key skills to add to your tool box with Humour Worx Provocative Change.

The ‘Bubble Of Possibility’ is a metaphor, and from the outset, The Bubble creates a safe and genuinely challenging space to be prodded, poked and encouraged to explore a problem, a limitation or a thought. This is the safe space where provocative change happens. The Bubble is necessary to set the stage of what can happen. Anything, everything and all that is in between.

Phil has been coming to Newcastle to teach his Humour Worx since 2010. Phil’s work is constantly evolving and is based in solid structures that have a way of creating neuro-plastic change in the brain that is soaked in humour.

As a participant you will be learning patterns and drills ( which are easy to learn ) which culminate in a set of skills, suitably framed, that are a perfect addition to your current skills set.

Provocative Change Patterns

This is Phil’s latest work which is comprising of updated structure of Humour Worx being 20 patterns and an additional day of the advanced stuff which is rarely taught, as they say, the cutting edge. Here are some of the patterns.

  • Voice Technology
  • Don’t worry about that
  • Where there is blame there is a claim
  • Problem justification shuffle
  • Research shows

Over three days you will be internalising some 20 linguistic patterns of Provocative Change in Humour Worx BUT as seasoned practitioners know the linguistic patterns are just a part of the congruent attitude that both verbal and non-verbal excellent change workers demonstrate.

You will be developing your own personal style of expression of the Provocative Change Humour Worx system which on day three will grow into the reality you can create and project.

The three days are centered around genuine Bubble Session where you will experience Phil working 1:1 in 20 minute sessions. Did you know it takes around 20 minutes to create, that is grow and solidify new neural connections?

This is an excellent opportunity to work with and model ( in my opinion ) the best Provocative Change exponent. The workshop is also excellent value.

I felt helpless and ineffective as a therapist working and helping serious trauma clients until I discovered a process based way I could really affect positive change in those intractable cases.

I recall one specific client who had the dreadful and unfortunate experience of losing their partner some eight years previous. They had had numerous counselling experiences, tried hypnotherapy and even psychotherapy. I found their story was so very sad, deeply moving and extremely depressing to listen to.

This was in 2005 when I started working as a full time therapist and was working from a hired therapy room in Newcastle city centre. I had recently qualified as a hypnotherapist and was using a combination of NLP and Hypnotherapy in my client work.

All of the techniques I attempted had little effect. In part this was due to my lack of experience and in part because they were so embroiled and rehearsed in their story. It was obvious they were in a lots of physical and psychological pain but I was thwarted at every turn. I guess they had told their sad story to every therapist they spoke to and in each retelling they became more and more sad, more and more remorseful and more and more depressed. I desperately wanted to help but I really could not get through. They stayed in a state of deep loss and grief and I really felt helpless to help.

Roll the clock forward towards the end of 2009. I worked with a man who had lost his daughter. Now as far as I can see there is probably no worse event than a parent losing their child – this is not the natural order of things.

Well this man lost his daughter some 10 years previous and similarly had seen therapists of all varieties; hypnotherpaists, CBT, counselling you name it. They held a great deal of grief and loss as you would expect and they were embroilled in their story. Of course they were, losing a child would decimate most people.

This time I was somewhat more experienced in how I work with clients that have experienced serious trauma and after a real large chunk of time have not moved on because they could not let go. I explained what I was going to do and that was listen to his story until I understood he was feeling his worst sense of loss and that I would ask questions so that he would really be feeling his loss. I also explained why I would do this and what I would do as a result.

Once we were both clear what I would do and why. I asked if he was willing to explore this with me and that he was OK with me stopping his story so I could do my very best to work on the feelings that were ultimately the serious problem. He agreed. In this case it is very important to offer an explanation of why I was going to do what I was going to do.

Within that two hour session, for him, a miracle happened. The burden of guilt and loss lifted in a way that was palpable and immediate. The next session I could use time line re-patterning – specifically future orientated and that man felt the freedom to live and be with his partner much more fully in a way that he has not experienced in all that time since losing his daughter. I felt incredibly good in that I had helped this man to open up to the rest of his life in a positive way and I did this without having to have him recount a painful and depressive story in just two sessions that amount to four hours.

The differences in how I was working in 2005 to how I was working in 2009 with serious client trauma was profound. I now had a very simple and robust set of process tools. I had now learned to explain or frame why I was going to respectfully interrupt his story and what I would be doing and how he could respond to respond to this process.

With a strong set of process tools that have little to do with the content of personal trauma I have a great deal of choice and options as to how I can best work with serious trauma clients.

I had moved from the classical counselling orientation or inexperienced NLP or hypnotherapist and their specific options to being able to both frame and utilise one of the most robust and rapid ways of helping clients overcome deep trauma.

Trauma Resolution – EMIPlus Training : Edinburgh & London 2013

Trauma Resolution Workshop for Change Professionals

Eye Movement Integration Plus is a very easy to learn and apply set of techniques that can be used to help people suffering from a variety of serious stress problems. EMIPlus is NOT a miracle cure, it is however very, very effective.

These workshops are specifically for anyone in the people helping profession. This is applicable to counsellors, therapists, psychotherapists, doctors, NLP therapists, coaches and hypnotherapists. The process is as close to a content free intervention as we can find.

NLP Training Newcastle

The EMIPlus trainings for the rest of 2013 will be in Edinburgh 7-8 September and London November 9-10. Both trainings are over two days and are very practical in nature. There is plenty of supporting neurological theory, which do proved excellent metaphors of neurological change for clients. Yet the essence is in a very simple to master technique that continues to provide the experiences to help elevate undesirable emotional responses.

The problems and issues EMIPlus can help to resolve include :

  • Phobias
  • Traumatic memories
  • PTSD
  • Guilt, shame, regret and remorse
  • Possibly some instances of physical symptoms.

Meaning In … Unity … In Meaning

A Workshop To Explore & Connect With Your Soul – Act From Your Heart & Speak Your Truth

“If you bring forth what is within you, what you bring forth will save you. If you do not bring forth what is within you, what you do not bring forth will destroy you.” ~ Gospel Of Thomas

Unity comes from Latin ‘Unitas’ from Unus, meaning ‘One’.

There is a fundamentally available and known space we can occupy

  • A space where we can simply be accepting of all that is arising.
  • A place where we accept others as they are; a space where we accept ourselves as we are.
  • A space where we can connect with everything and nothing; be moved and unmoved.

This is a Soul space

We humans are makers of meanings and we are meaning makers. How we relate and compare, how we evaluate and judge and how we include and exclude can be apprehended as characteristics of our Internal World, our Shared Reality and a deeper understanding of Feminine and Masculine energy. None of these are fixed and if anything, they are infinitely expansible.

Paula and Nigel in this one day workshop will facilitate an exploration of how we can all connect more deeply with our own and shared purposes in business, play and life. How we can welcome and accept our deepest selves and use this experience to welcome difference and diversity whilst holding ‘true’ to our own unique and individual purpose. This is about enabling a more Soulful life, here, now.

We cannot not judge. We cannot not evaluate. We cannot not make decisions. Masculine and Feminine typically do this in different ways. Cultures and Societies have different intrinsic values and beliefs that create certain world views. Aiming to be appreciative and accepting of how all this happens will open perspectives even more so we can realise the Unity in Diversity and come from the deepest recognition.

Knowing we can be moving more expansively to places where we can accept without trying to change others beliefs, values and meanings to allow us to be much more accepting of other and ourselves without the need to understand ‘why’.

The only meanings this life has are the ones we create, share, and accept as ‘true’. Being able to have the Heart Space and Mind Space that together opens a Soul Space is a genuine experience of what can’t be said with words. Come and dis-cover your Soul Space, your Unity …

The NCCCTC organised by Nigel Hetherington ( me ), is a gathering of the change workers and change consultants who are early adopters, the so called progressive front, of those of us who want new and different perspectives, ways of connecting and insights on how to improve our professional ( and personal ) practice in the world of change professionals and therapeutic partnerships.

This conference brings together eight accomplished and highly skilled change professionals who’s passions is to share and learn from each and everyone at the conference, with a view to highlighting effective principles, models and refined ways of working with our clients.

The NCCCTC is an extremely low cost, very high quality event that will deliver a multitude of different perspectives which all participants are invited to explore. The intention of this is not an intellectual exercise but to share and explore our modes, methods and principles of how we approach the business of change work. Each presenter will share their individual ways of working. At the bigger perspective all of these methods are really very effective and participants will get the different flavours of change work offered. Not so much a change work pick and mix, more a change principles ( with methods and process ) exploration.

There is no one ‘right’ way to approach change work, and the invitations are to absorb and assimilate all of the principles and process’s offered and then go out into the real world, your practice, and explore how you can make the most helpful and even profound changes in both your clients and yourself, updating how you choose to work. You can anticipate both theory but more so practice, with exercises and real world experience.

This is a wonderful opportunity for both seasoned professionals and people new to the field of professional change work to get insights into how we operate and work with clients. You can anticipate a wide variety of different approaches and tactics. And so much more …

The NCCCTC will close for general booking on Monday 9th May. It is a real bargain, and an honest investment in your professional practice @ £40 for two full days, with eight top tacticians posing as presenters.

Spirituality in Coaching and Therapy

The more you lose yourself in something bigger than yourself, the more energy you will have.

Norman Vincent Peale

Spirituality In Coaching and Therapy – Newcastle NLP and Hypnosis Cafe Monday 7th February 7-9pm : Gosforth Library Newcastle NE3 3HD : £10 Including Biscuits. Book online below.

When we come direct from heart space we create an energetic connection that surpasses the concept of empathy or our multi-sensory capacity. In doing so we create the neutral void that two souls can share to explore, discover, test, challenge and shift. For us, this is our recipe for lasting and generative change.

So in this café Paula and Nigel will facilitate your unpacking of the deeper and more connecting ways in which yours and our therapeutic alliances work. How they are formed, how they grow and the effect and impact they have on our and the world.

We will open and share our thoughts and processes of how to develop co-created alliances by exploring the concepts of projections and reflections prior to, during and after a dynamic interaction. We will also consider projection and reflection in terms of attracting clients into your life for mutual healing and purposeful learnings.

Every person we meet has something to teach us, and every person has something to say that only they can say. We both believe we attract the clients that will help and be beneficial to our ongoing development. This may also include ‘healing’ your past. viz a vie we meet together to co-create something that is more than mutually beneficial …

From this place we’ll look at working from heart space that dynamically co-creates a change process as being fundamental in effective change and evolution work. We will show you how this offers a place that goes way beyond our understanding of rapport. Indeed it transcends the thoughts that if we shared some common value, belief, outcomes, goals and even purpose we can go anywhere in the relationship.
