Weight Loss & Pain Management Workshop

OK so you or your clients want to lose weight it’s that simple. So from the outset, it’s all the about the past – a past that has been stopping, restraining or imprisoning you. A bold statement, perhaps, so let’s explain.

When the past is mentioned its like everything you know was learned at some point and for most people, habits or expectation about the future are predictions made from past experience.

With weight loss, these are the disabling beliefs that circle around diets and miracle cures like vultures, ever ready for the next celebrity endorsed meal. What needs to change, must change for something long lasting is the entire foundation that is the emotional baggage and past we have all carried.

NLP Hypnotherapy Newcastle

There is a gateway to the imagination you must enter before you are conscious and the keys to the gate are symbols. You can carry ideas through the gate … but you must carry the ideas as symbols” – Frank Herbert

These very predictions of behaviour, thought and emotion are to avoid pain be it emotional, psychological or physical. And are the foundation of how and what we are today in behaviours, thoughts and emotions.

Digging up, basically removing the old foundations to create a very new basis means coming to terms, letting go and being reborn, like a Phoenix, could clear the way, open fresh possibilities, new possibilities to spectacular new ways of being – this means letting go of the fear-avoidant way we move through life is incredibly liberating.

Even being open to new possibilities creates change, the ground for liberation.

liberate means to be free. To stop coping with life the way you have. To open to the possibility of new and effortfully-joyful ways relating to yourself, food and … a lush way of living in a much more connective way.

This workshop will explore how pain ( physical and emotional ) can be liberated in means by a way of newly freshly taken in information and the resultant integration giving-creating genuine choice and purpose in losing weight.

What Will I Be Learning?

Some time ago, I was texted by a prospective student for an NLP/Hypnotherapy ‘what will I be learning in actuality’ – well this is important in regards to both weight loss and pain release; For two reasons.

Knowing what is being learned kind of defeats the idea of learning anything new. Usually this at best maps something different with new to old learning ( what we are trying to avoid ) and secondly they were too lazy to look at my web site.

Committing to both learning and embedding new habits is crucial in making any long lasting change. This requires effort. But – effort in the right place which is primarily psychological as well as behavioural.

Releasing the emotional and physical pain of past experiences and learnings has the potential to immediately create new ways of being in the world. Such past shocks to the psyche are going to be liberated with a method based in aspects of The Tibetan Book of the Dead. Kind of like acknowledging and letting be the vulnerable child in parts work. Tears of release anticipated!

What is a critical part in any change work is belief that change is possible. This is not like the ‘i would like to believe’ as would be many a religions practitioner in word but a deep, honest and forward feeling belief. More than faith but with stories of possibility we are creating a fertile ground for change.

A belief like this ( if its not already there ) is about stories, be they religious, scientific or anywhere in-between. It’s also about opening to the possibilities of change at a deep and sustainable level.

Following on from these aspects, we are looking backwards from the future, remembering what happened to create, shake and move us in the correct directions … and to move ourselves. This is rooted in our own deep and very honest values. What I call Spiral Dynamic Informed Future Pacing.

So a quick round up of some of the ways and means of pain release and weight loss.

  • Commitment and correct effort to succeed
  • Tibetan liberation from the past
  • Pain release
  • Creating a self motivated and purposeful future
  • Follow up and post session on Zoom

This workshop is informed with works from many of the most inspirations and meaningful books I have read. This is ranging from neuroscience to spirituality which offer the stories and the structures that can support change.

Mythology ( a story ) is “A traditional tail with secondary partial reference to something of collective importance.” – Berkert/Meineck

Working with Anxiety Workshop : November 12-13 : ONLY £65

Stress and anxiety in one form or another account for up to 70% of the reasons clients come to see us. So it seems clients are contacting us in their quest for a healthier, stress free, happier life.

Perhaps much of the time you are able to connect and offer tools and therapeutic work that can help you clients achieve this. We are also ‘guessing’ sometimes you can’t.

Anxiety Workshop

In these instances have you ever honestly felt as though there is no getting through to a client who is so caught up in their problems nothing seems to release them from being stuck on the proverbial ‘hamster wheel’ they go round and round in?

As a therapist perhaps you yourself have struggled with a busy mind, overthinking, or second guessing yourself? As humans we can all easily fall into the trap without realising we are causing much of our own anxiety and stresses .

Perhaps something we would all benefit from is a bit more patience, to not to get unnecessarily irritable or overwhelmed at certain times and cultivate the ability to neither live in the past or future but live in the now.

I myself was at a funeral a few months ago, while there I watched people and felt myself, go through a wide range of emotions, from devastation, to frustration, anger sadness, fondness to laughter as memories were recalled and tales were told.

Such a vast amount of changing emotions in each and every person, yet nothing had changed – no matter how much we wished it had, so what happened ? How is it possible to change our feelings moment to moment ?” – julie

Understanding how we function as human beings is core to this training – by giving you the therapists real time felt experiences – through simple processes, stories and metaphor – in hand with a deeper understanding about our influenced and influencing part in them, will give and offer you a much greater advantage to helping your clients ( and you ) overcome stress, worry, anxiety and panic.

Who Is This Training For?

This two day training offered by Nigel Hetherington and Julie Brown will be interactive, thought provoking and real.

For Therapists and Counsellors

It is open to anyone who works with clients and through some simple techniques and understanding of how we as people work could quite possibly transform the way you work with clients as well as in your own experience of life with yourself, friends, family and colleagues.

For People Who Want Solutions to Their Anxiety

Most of us have suffered from one form of anxiety or another. This workshop will offer effective tools to help you make friends with and tame your over active thoughts. This of course takes effortful commitment.

Be prepared to come with an open mind allowing everything you have previously been taught to one side, for now and allow yourself to engage from anew.

NLP Newcastle a New Year Revolution for Your 2015

Before I share some thoughts and ideas about your New Year resolutions I am going to share a story with you. If you require the dates and cost of the January 2015 18 day NLP Practitioner training, that’s all at the end of this post.

When I was about fifteen I had an experience that is common to practically everybody I know.

Me and a friend had been watching the film Nightmare on Elm Street at his parents house. It was as I remember very very scary. When it came to 10pm I was making my way home and it was dark winter night where the wind was blowing through the hedges and trees.

NLP Newcastle

Karen Testimonial

As the wind blew low clouds across an almost full moon, little noises made my hairs stand on end and for the whole of that terrifying five minute walk that became a run home, my imagination created horrendous scenarios about what could happen that were far more frightening to me that the film I had just watched. But lets get back to the New Year resolutions for a while.

Many people are making New Year resolutions. These wonderful ideas are generally the kind of things that should improve your life, happiness and perhaps drop a waist size or two.

Sometimes and rightly so the New Year resolutions are to stop doing things that cause emotional pain or are in some ways not entirely healthy. These could be to worry less, live with less fear and anxiety or to cut down on alcohol and red meat.

All of these are in essence great ways to begin a new fresh year. Making the changes that we believe will make a real difference in both who we are and how we show up in the world day in and day out.

If you consider that all resolutions are ways of attempting to make our life better in some way then I invite you to write a list of between twenty and thirty aspects of your life that you are generally happy with. Write them down. This could easily take a whole ten minutes. Having done that, ask yourself how happy you actually are right now.

NLP Course Newcastle

Graham Testimonial

A vast majority of our happiness is created not so much as what happens to us or what we do but by how we make the meaning of the events and experiences in our life. This really does mean a great deal of how and what we feel really is massively influenced by what and how we think. Think about it!

Our brain is the most amazing thing we have. Without it there would be no perceptions, no feeling and no life. The most complex thing we are aware of in the universe and there is no operating manual to teach us how to use our brains for the better.

So we have our operational use of our brains just the way we have them. And there is certainly room for improvement or we want improvement hence the New Years resolutions. Or as I prefer to use the analogy of a list of goals and outcomes that we think will bring us happiness.

Learning how we can use our thoughts and how we can change our ongoing experience is like waking up from a dream.  It’s like finding out what is really, really important in our life and then doing some ‘making it happen’.

So back to Nightmare on Elm street. There is absolutely everything normal and correct about feeling fear, worry and anxiety. Unless it rules your life as both a jailer, tormentor and torturer.

When I get back home my mother asked what was wrong. I coughed up and said something like “I know its stupid but I have been watching a film at …” We talked for a few minutes and then I asked if I could go out again for just a few minutes.

Alex Testimonial

What I did then was walk back the route I had just ran from. Yes it was scary, I was frightened. I was almost constantly reassuring myself that it was OK and Freddy was not coming to get me. When I got back to my friends house I then realised I had to go home again. Scary yes, but I had done it before, so I did it again. I think it’s called feel the fear and do it anyway.

That common experience I am alluding to is when ‘something’ takes over and despite fear, anxiety and worry we do something amazing, pure and life giving.

And yes I know this is no big deal at all and we will all have our own stories as to when we have experienced something life this. so what on earth does this have to do with goals?

When we set goals or New Year resolutions very seldom do we really, really know what the longer game or consequences are. A great coaching question to ask yourself is what is the real and deep motivation that having attained the said goal will actually bring into your life as an honest and lasting experience.

What was my goal in facing a completely irrational fear at 15? I honestly don’t know.  As I look back I can make new meanings, imagine what my outcome was but its just imagination. What is important is that there was an impulse, a very deep motivation to act.

My sense is that when many people make goals or New Year resolutions they probably make a lot of sense and would seem at first glance to be useful yet so many people fail in their good attempts. They act on deep impulse.

For outcomes or revolutions to ‘stick’ there needs to be something more than a deep impulse and some good intentions.

When I coach clients who have goals I use NLP tools to explore the meanings and inherent values of any goals. I share NLP techniques that help people to influence their own thoughts, feelings and actions in ways more conducive to their better wellbeing. And especially to have ways to help tap back into their deep motivation to help stay motivated.

Playful Change – Humour In Therapy : Exceedingly Good Additions For Your Therapy Toolbox : November 2014

If you are an NLP Practitioner, Hypnotherapist, Solution Focused Therapist, counsellor or a change worker of any form you will deeply understand the value of having several approaches to complement your main profession.

Effective therapy often involves going beyond any one specific protocol or pattern because all of our clients are individuals and respond better to some forms of intervention that others. That’s why its invaluable to have a variety of tools that can help your clients out of seemingly intractable thinking patterns or behaviours.

Phil Jeremiah is coming to Newcastle ( for the third time in four years ) this November to share his latest additions in the world of Playful Change. That is the structured use of humour and playfulness within a safe therapeutic setting.

Now have you ever considered the structured and deliberate use of humour, irrelevance and playfulness as applied to therapy? Especially with the people you find the most challenging to work with.

Playful Change in Therapy

Completing this workshop you will have both the skills and competency to interject irrelevance, humour or positive shock which can be easily incorporated into your current work or you could just as well utilise a full 20 minute Playful Change session inside your therapy work too.

The workshop will include patterns, group work and the opportunity to work with Phil one to one in a full 20 minute Playful Change session.

So you are confident in your application of the skills there will be many drills and exercises where you practice the patterns continuing to build on what you are learning over the weekend.

The weekend is guaranteed to be fun, relevant and structured. You can anticipate having a real laugh while your learning in experience.

November 22-23 : Newcastle upon Tyne : £150

Before the booking information, Im going to share a little history about how I was introduced to Phil and why I am inviting him back to Newcastle.

I was introduced and recommended to Phil’s work in 2009 by one of my first excellent teachers of NLP. Such a recommendation was real interesting and couldn’t be refused so I acted immediately intending to bring Phil to Newcastle.

Following a couple of telephone conversations and emails, I realised Phil is very much a kindred spirit and soon we had arranged dates for a two day training in the North East.

In early 2010 Phil came to Newcastle to teach Humour Works to a group of Hypnotherapists,  NLP Practitioners and a smattering of Solution Focused therapists and counsellors. The weekend was a huge success and the feedback from participants was extremely positive.

Phil Jeremiah IV is a world class exponent of Provocative Change, Thought Provoking Dialogue and Playful Change. Phil was one of Frank Farrelly’s ( creator of provocative therapy ) early and close in students.

My opinion is Phil is the slickest and most natural exponent of any of the ‘provocative’ styles facilitators I have seen. Plus his being a superb and fun teacher makes this a training you really must attend. You will be learning much more that patterns, you will be learning application and style.

I felt helpless and ineffective as a therapist working and helping serious trauma clients until I discovered a process based way I could really affect positive change in those intractable cases.

I recall one specific client who had the dreadful and unfortunate experience of losing their partner some eight years previous. They had had numerous counselling experiences, tried hypnotherapy and even psychotherapy. I found their story was so very sad, deeply moving and extremely depressing to listen to.

This was in 2005 when I started working as a full time therapist and was working from a hired therapy room in Newcastle city centre. I had recently qualified as a hypnotherapist and was using a combination of NLP and Hypnotherapy in my client work.

All of the techniques I attempted had little effect. In part this was due to my lack of experience and in part because they were so embroiled and rehearsed in their story. It was obvious they were in a lots of physical and psychological pain but I was thwarted at every turn. I guess they had told their sad story to every therapist they spoke to and in each retelling they became more and more sad, more and more remorseful and more and more depressed. I desperately wanted to help but I really could not get through. They stayed in a state of deep loss and grief and I really felt helpless to help.

Roll the clock forward towards the end of 2009. I worked with a man who had lost his daughter. Now as far as I can see there is probably no worse event than a parent losing their child – this is not the natural order of things.

Well this man lost his daughter some 10 years previous and similarly had seen therapists of all varieties; hypnotherpaists, CBT, counselling you name it. They held a great deal of grief and loss as you would expect and they were embroilled in their story. Of course they were, losing a child would decimate most people.

This time I was somewhat more experienced in how I work with clients that have experienced serious trauma and after a real large chunk of time have not moved on because they could not let go. I explained what I was going to do and that was listen to his story until I understood he was feeling his worst sense of loss and that I would ask questions so that he would really be feeling his loss. I also explained why I would do this and what I would do as a result.

Once we were both clear what I would do and why. I asked if he was willing to explore this with me and that he was OK with me stopping his story so I could do my very best to work on the feelings that were ultimately the serious problem. He agreed. In this case it is very important to offer an explanation of why I was going to do what I was going to do.

Within that two hour session, for him, a miracle happened. The burden of guilt and loss lifted in a way that was palpable and immediate. The next session I could use time line re-patterning – specifically future orientated and that man felt the freedom to live and be with his partner much more fully in a way that he has not experienced in all that time since losing his daughter. I felt incredibly good in that I had helped this man to open up to the rest of his life in a positive way and I did this without having to have him recount a painful and depressive story in just two sessions that amount to four hours.

The differences in how I was working in 2005 to how I was working in 2009 with serious client trauma was profound. I now had a very simple and robust set of process tools. I had now learned to explain or frame why I was going to respectfully interrupt his story and what I would be doing and how he could respond to respond to this process.

With a strong set of process tools that have little to do with the content of personal trauma I have a great deal of choice and options as to how I can best work with serious trauma clients.

I had moved from the classical counselling orientation or inexperienced NLP or hypnotherapist and their specific options to being able to both frame and utilise one of the most robust and rapid ways of helping clients overcome deep trauma.

NLP Eye Movement Integration : This is work that Connirae and Steve Andreas created and developed in the 1980′s and is used and shared, gratefully, with their permission.

NLP Practitioner Edinburgh and Newcastle 2014

An NLP Practitioner training course is one of many ways to help people improve their life. This has everything to do with our psychology and perception of how much influence we have in given situations.

Avoiding the absurd and ridiculous claims of NLP practitioners being able to master any emotional state, being able to cure phobias in minutes and never feeling stress again, this course aims to offer the tools and techniques to have a much more fun and engaging life. Starting with you.

I joined the NLP practitioner course as a way to extend my therapy skills to help others make changes in their lives. It gave me all the additional skills I wanted and more. I feel I am a much better therapist, helping people create their own meaningful solutions much more quickly.”

NLP Practitioner training in Newcastle offers much more than ‘soft skills’ in terms of being more able to manage ( not control ) our personal psychology and perspectives in life. This offers principles, the techniques and ways of genuinely, changing our psychological make up, to enhance and live life in deeper ways.

It also was one of the most fun and important 6 months of my life. Nigel’s teaching is fascinating, extremely well explained and absolutely hilarious. I spent the training weekends laughing, enjoying myself immensely and learning a huge amount.

Of course this requires application and practice. There are lots of techniques and tools to make communication more relevant and honest, there is a real accent on having fun during learning because the old classroom style is dead and the way forward is to incorporate joy in learning and making that learning totally practical in day to day living well.

In all the sessions you use the techniques on yourself to achieve your goals and solve your problems. NLP is able to be used as a secret therapy so you do not have to share any personal information with your colleagues, meaning you feel secure to change those things that are most personal to you. My perspective of the world has opened hugely and enabled me to make changes on a very deep level.

Pauline Thomas – Occupational Therapist, Yoga Teacher and now NLP Practitioner

My personal take on NLP is that it can, often in powerful ways, help individuals to change HOW we perceive and think about goals and problems in life. NLP Techniques offer a way to better realise your goals and outcomes. Unlike the Secret, this actually takes work and effort. This training is experiential by nature.

The Accent on NLP Course Training

Most of peoples stresses and frustrations come from the interpretation and psychology of our situations. Mostly none of the life stressors actually arise from physical situations. NLP offers well proven and time based techniques that can help you sort your self out … and … create some really positive change.

The NLP techniques create and shape new and additional ways of perceiving life. This is ideally suited to anyone who wants to expand their capabilities as a change worker, coach or professional service provider.

These trainings are for people who want or need to change how you think and act in the world. The accent is fundamentally on you being able to better act and respond in a world of rapidly changing themes.

The changes you want to realise will fundamentally begin with you.”

James Tripp Newcastle : Art of Transformational Change with Conversation

One the real developers in change work James Tripp is coming to Newcastle in November to offer his latest work in an excellent two day training in ‘Transformational Conversation’.

Booking Closes November 2nd

In James’ latest video offering he discusses the ART of transformation. This is at the fore front of current and powerful practical changer work. Anyone that is seriously interested in what it takes to really transform, from a centre of mutual consent, by way of change work, you need to check James’ latest video.

Before That I Want to Share a Little Story

In around 2007 I was planning on delivering a group training for a local interest group in Newcastle. What was planned to be a technical offering to a group of NLPEMI turned out to be a 1:1 demonstration of EMI ( eye movement integration technique ) where the group of about 40 people watched a 1:1 session.

Inside of this group, one wonderfully brave person chose to be a demonstration subject to show the first moves. This turned out to be a full demonstration of a process where this brave soul allowed me to facilitate moving through aspects of trauma ( known to many others in the group ) as a full session of an hour and 25 minutes.

They moved through past trauma and were, on the evening completely unable to re-access the original problem states. They could re-access the memory imprints yet without the negative emotion.

It was, in my opinion, a fantastic demonstration of the process, by way of inability to access the problem states. And in some perspective it was a disaster in that time constraints did not allow for the group to explore the techniques.

Following on from this, one person, approached me, and demanded, before they use this, the research that this process or technique had statistical evidential back up.

I responded ( I think reasonably stated ) you have just seen it. They seemed to disregard everything they has just witnessed, in favour of some statistics. I can’t speak for James, I can speak for myself in that, I am interested in what works, what and how I do what I do has nothing to do with statistics. It has everything to do with how I do what I do. You are not a statistic.

If this is you then this training really is not for you. Stop reading and enjoy your time in other ways.

NLP Training Newcastle

There is plenty of supporting neurological theory, which do proved excellent metaphors of neurological change for clients. Yet the essence is in a very simple to master technique that continues to provide the experiences to help elevate undesirable emotional responses.

The problems and issues EMIPlus can help to resolve include :

  • Phobias
  • Traumatic memories
  • PTSD
